ID Software released just before Christmas the source code of Quake II, a 3D shooter, which was a highly successful game and still remains a very popular to this day.
Steffen Haeuser, an Amiga games developer has revealed that a port of Quake II to the Amiga is well underway. According to the Steffen Haeuser, “Asides from missing sound and missing software renderer, the port is complete already”. Hans-Joerg Frieden, senior software developer at Hyperion is currently working on the Sound and Software-Renderer and although he is doing the work in his free time, the port should be ready soon.
There will be both a 68k version and a PPC version of Quake II coming to the Amiga.
