Gorky 17 for AmigaOne Officially Confirmed
*

At the Benelux Amiga Show there were early hints that Gorky 17 might be released for the AmigaOne, which provoked a largely positive reaction to what seems to be an intriguing strategy/ RPG game. In the second of Hyperion's Christmas Day announcements it was confirmed that they had extended their existing license agreement with Metropolis Software, which will allow a port of Gorky 17 to go ahead.

Gorky 17 is a horror conspiracy game mixing elements of strategy and RPG gameplay. In this game you command an elite commando team who must reveal the mystery behind the sudden appearance of hybrid creatures in a small Polish city named Lubin. Hans-Joerg Frieden of Hyperion indicated that the game is played on two levels, “an exploration level when you move around and try to find clues about what is going on, and a combat level when you encounter creatures”. In the combat level the game uses a point system for movement/ actions, for example moving takes one point while firing a gun takes more points.

Development of the port is said to be progressing well with the first screenshots of the AmigaOne version now available. New recruits to the Hyperion team, Steven Fuller and Joe Tennies are working hard on the Amiga and Linux ports. No release date has been announced.
