The designers of Digital Universe, a popular astronomy program have confirmed that they are working on a version for the new Amiga platform.

Bill Eaves who is leading the effort to port Digital Universe outlined on Amiga World that, “my beta version works quite well and is very fast compared to the 68k version”. However, not all of the new features have been incorporated but they intend to include new planet maps, better rendering, updated GUI and a host of other bug fixes and improvements.

Bill Eaves also revealed some details about their plans for version two of Digital Universe for the Amiga. Version two will be a bigger overhaul and include more features from the Mac version, such as the Hubble GSC, and deep sky image rendering. It will also have an Arexx port, and animations similar to the Mac version.
