Hans-Joerg Frieden has publically announced that an open source version of Descent II has been ported to AmigaOS 4. It is freely available from OS4 Depot.

Descent II is a 3D shoot'em up that was originally released in 1996 by Parallax Software and published by Interplay. In the Descent series of games, you are hired on a mercenary basis to assist in off-world mining operations which have been hindered by robots that roam throughout the mines. This second installation of Descent is considered one of the best due to the fact that levels were designed with a theme in mind and the inclusion of difficult puzzles such as hidden doors and laser-reflecting force fields.

Gamers should note you will need the full retail version or the shareware/demo files to run this open source version of Descent II. Copies can be purchased from Amazon or from your local dealer.
