The first event of the AmigaOS 4 Tour took place in Ljubljana, Slowenia drawing users from throughout Europe.
For the first time AmigaOS 4 was publicly demonstrated with the new AmigaOS running on an Amiga A4000 CSPPC 233MHz CVISIONPPC and on another Amiga A4000 CSPPC 233MHz, mediator, Voodoo. The default appearance, which is 80% complete was put on show and impressed most of the Amiga users in attendance. The organisers who in advance stated that there was to be a surprise revealed a new font-rendering engine incorporated into AmigaOS 4. Two AmigaOne's were also demonstrated but AmigaOS 4 was not shown on them instead Debian Linux was installed.
More news regarding AmigaOS 4 Tour events has been revealed over the course of the last week. The organisers of the 21st of June tour event in Basel, Switzerland have confirmed the attendance of Austrian Amiga reseller point.design, the Swiss Amiga reseller Relec, the French Annuaire Amiga Francophone, the AmigaMultitaskForce club from Lausanne, and many other Amiga supporters. The Swedish tour event in Gothenburg, which is to take place on the 28th of June should draw crowds as Ben Hermans of Hyperion Entertainment will be in attendance.
The AmigaOS 4 Tour continues this weekend with Amiga Club Augsburg and KDH Datentechnik hosting an event. Hyperion developers Steffen Häuser, Hans-Jörg Frieden and Thomas Frieden will attend the event and demonstrate the new AmigaOS.
